PSA Elects Leaders For Esports Program

Premier Sports Academy, a collegiate preparatory program for high school-aged athletes, announces new strides into the world of online competitive gaming. PSA has filled head coaching positions for several of its esports teams, and is actively recruiting players and staff for upcoming titles. The program is focused on capturing the essence of PSA’s other sports teams, which allow athletes to develop to the best of their ability by working with PSA’s paid, professional coaches. PSA’s coaches and faculty provide professional guidance for their teams, and work with players to help maximize their collegiate scholarship opportunities.

The academy already has over 45 athletes currently enrolled in its program across a variety of titles which include, Rocket League, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Valorant, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends. The program has officially selected head coaches for several teams, including some notable leaders– Javier “S1ntex” Talavera leads PSA’s Rocket League Team as a program coordinator (with COO Matt Meier). After competing professionally in Europe, he moved to North America where he now attends State Fair Community College as an esports athlete. Justin ‘SiLLY” Fargo-Palmer was selected to be PSA’s Call of Duty head coach. Coach SiLLY has extensive experience in a professional esports setting. In 2017, he won the Call of Duty World League Tournament in Atlanta followed by a World Championship victory in 2018 which had a prize pool of $1.5 million.

PSA’s history organizing youth sports in baseball, softball, and recently golf help set standards of professionalism in their esports operation. Creating paid positions for head coaches and providing resources for athletes, such as team uniforms and mental coaching, are key components in PSA’s plan to develop the program to its fullest potential.

The Premier eSports Academy teams are logging on to the world of competitive gaming that is seeing large brands, investors and media outlets begin to recognize the rise in popularity of esports. As a leader in the collegiate esports movement, PSA is focused on continuing to be the main provider for esport athletes who are looking to pursue collegiate athletics. PSA is committed to fielding professional teams in each of its titles to compete against some of the world’s best esport athletes.
