CS:GO Sequel Confirmed by Valve

Anticipation of the New CS2 Update

Valve Corporation is set to release the second version of its ever-popular game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Fans of the first-person shooter have been speculating about the update for years– some close to a decade. In February, rumors finally seemed to become reality as the company’s Twitter banner was updated with a simpler, sleeker version of the current name and logo, this time only bearing the text, “Counter-Strike.”. The following month, Twitter began chirping again about a few NVIDIA drivers that had been recently introduced hinting at a sequel: “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe”. Then by mid-March, trademarks for “CS2” and “Counter Strike” were filed by Valve, and shortly after the banner was changed again to showcase the new logo and background with a refreshing shade of blue.

A few CS:GO esport professionals, who have suited up for Premier Sports Academy in the past, took to Twitter to express their anticipation regarding the official announcement. Player, James “Jachro” retweeted video showcases of the new graphics, and tweeted “Next major is gonna be crazy on cs2”. One user retweeted a picture of the new logo, with the caption “we own you”, referring to the free update that will automatically replace the current version upon its summer release.

The new title will include improvements including new lighting, rendering, and an overhaul of some of the game’s most popular maps like Italy, Overpass, and Zoo. Additionally, smoke grenades, which are an important part of team tactics, are being revised to be more dynamic and interact with the environment. New tick movements, which control player input will be revised as well to create a more seamless experience for the user. The new Source 2 Engine is responsible for the developer’s capacity to make these innovative changes and create an invigorating new experience for gamers.

Premier Sports Academy will continue its efforts, competing in esports leagues, and broadcasting its games, viewable at www.twitch.tv/premiersportsacademy. Many of PSA’s members are expecting the new release to be a refreshing addition to the current gaming titles they play for leisure, and have expressed interest in joining other ‘beta testers’ for Counter Strike’s second edition of their ever-popular gaming title.
